On Strike!

Tonight my daugther cooked supper. 3 weeks ago I was not feeling very good and I made corned beef and cabbage since I was gone on that Saturday to cook it. After awhile the family just expects me to get up and get cooking and never telling me how it taste or was it good, well I had had it. The dishes sat there until I went to bed, and talking to myself about not doing them did not work, so I did them. But in the last 3 weeks I have only cooked once and tonight was Danielle's turn, She don't like to cook, I guess she gets it from me, I hate to cook.

I know this strike will come to an end, but I am holding out as long as possible. I don't mind doing the dishes, I just would like someone to say "it was good" or can I help you out! I know there are people out there who are going through what I am going through. House work is one thing, but cooking can be shared!

Hope you all have had a great weekend. My day was outside washing the car and van (my choice)

Happy April Sis!!! I think we all have felt like going on strike one time or another, and we do have a thankless job most of the time, but as the kids gets older they will realize it and be very thankful for you! We just have to set a good role for them and expect them to want to help out some. Hope it gets better soon. Love ya!!

Good for you Alison. Moms are so taken for granted, we just have to shake-em-up sometimes. I'm on your side. MB

Oh, I can sooo relate!

Actually, City Boy does most of the cooking around here, but that's because I'm on strike, lol!

Yes, it sometimes a thankless job, (I'm often not fond of cooking either) but now that my kids are grown, they have come back and told me how much they appreciated me and have a better understanding of what I was going through.
The Lord sees how hard you work and will help you to have the strength to move in the direction of being able to fulfill the sometimes mundane responsibilities of life.
At the same time maybe you could explain to your family how you could use some help at times and set up a schedule for taking turns doing dishes-especially since you also have a job outside the home. Just a thought.
Keeping you in my prayers-Claudia O.

Everybody needs a break sometime, Allison. Being a Mom isn't always easy, and when you work outside the home I'm sure it's even tougher. I'm sure things will get better once you've had a short time away from the 'job'. Once my daughters were older, they usually cooked supper a couple of times a week--a good experience for them and a nice night off for me! Just remember that being a mom is a special gift from God!

P.S. I asked Sue to email me with your email addy since we are swap partners over at her blog. I'll try to get in touch with you soon.
