Rhyolite, Nevada

This house started out in Rhyolite, then moved to Beatty and back to Rhyolite
A House made out of Bottles
The Train Depot! Where Cherry 2000 was filmed at and The Island!

I was asked by Marybeth to post more pictures of Rhyolite, Nevada. So here I go. Rhyolite was a big boom town in the 1900 with the population of over 10,000 people. Most of these men were miners. There was a train that brought in supplies and people to this town in the desert. There was several bars, a bank, post office, Hotel, barber shop, and even a swimming pool that they hauled water to. I think it was so the miner could take a bath now and them. And yes there was a red light district. One of the 1st gun fights broke out in Rhyolite. And sad to say not many people lived past there 40's . Gold, Silver and some copper was found in these hills around Rhyolite and other areas. Still some gold in thoses hills........ So all that remains today are these broken building and dirt roads that led to someones house. The town had 1 resident left. The Jail, Depot and Bottle House are still standing. If your ever out this way, stop by and see what our history has to hold. If you log on to utube and type in Rhyolite Nevada you will see some videos and type in Beatty Nevada you will see my goat Lucy. Someone who came through Beatty took a video of town

well since I live right off of main street they saw lucy and one of my chicken I used to have. Enjoy...

Thank you Allison for posting this. I find it very interesting. It is just amazing that there could be a town with so many people and buildings and when the boom is over everything vanishes. MB
